In the opening match of the 11th round of the 2. Bundesliga, Dynamo Dresden secured a 3-0 victory over SpVgg Greuther Fürth on Friday evening, while Eintracht Braunschweig and Energie Cottbus settled for a scoreless draw.
At the Rudolf-Harbig-Stadion, Fürth initially dominated possession, but Dresden methodically capitalized on their chances. The breakthrough came in the 31st minute when Robert Wagner put the home side ahead, having been assisted by Niklas Hauptmann. Just before halftime, Ben Bobzien doubled Dresden’s lead, scoring in the 41st minute.
During the second half, Bobzien set up the crucial third goal, which Vincent Vermeij converted from a close range in the 55th minute. Blank, who had already been booked early on, was sent off in the 62nd minute due to a yellow-red card. Despite the deficit, Dresden managed their lead confidently, helped by goalkeeper Lennart Grill, who made several crucial saves against Fürth. Coach Thomas Stamm’s team thus claimed the win, moving up to eleven points on the table. Fürth remains on twelve points.
Separately, the match between Braunschweig and Cottbus was largely devoid of action. Eintracht began aggressively, but struggled to generate serious opportunities. Cottbus recorded the only significant moment of the game in the 14th minute when Christian Kinsombi struck the inside of the post during a counter-attack. Following that, both teams neutralized each other, resulting in a low-key affair. Both sides now hold eleven points, placing them equal with Dynamo Dresden.
