In Matchday 11 of the 2. Bundesliga, several results shifted the standings. 1. FC Nürnberg secured a 2-0 victory over SV Darmstadt 98, while Arminia Bielefeld defeated Holstein Kiel 2-1, and 1. FC Kaiserslautern won their match against VfL Osnabrück 1-0.
In Nürnberg, despite holding a clear advantage and being the second-place team prior to the break, Darmstadt’s defense remained resolute. The first goal of the afternoon was scored by Piet Scobel in the 50th minute, following a buildup from Markhiev. However, Smit and the substitute El Kadiri failed to capitalize on good chances to find an equalizer. The score was sealed when William Böving doubled the lead in the 88th minute. Consequently, Nürnberg maintains its position in second place, pushing Darmstadt down to 17th place.
Meanwhile, in Kiel, the visitors took the lead in the 14th minute via an own goal by Hiroki Sekine. Although Phil Harres scored what appeared to be the second goal, the goal was invalidated by video review, and Kiel’s goalkeeper, Weiner, saved a penalty attempt from Grodowski in the 59th minute. Sekine managed to tie the game with a header in the 76th minute, but when Isaiah Young entered as a substitute, he scored the winner four minutes later, making the final score 2-1. This result leaves Kiel firmly at the bottom of the table, while Bielefeld improves its standing to 6th place.
Osnabrück’s match was decided by a moment of brilliance from a substitute. Thierry Fidjeu-Tazemeta, who was brought on for Prtajin at halftime, scored the 1-0 winner in the 55th minute after a rebound. Osnabrück repeatedly failed to convert opportunities against FCK goalkeeper Krahl. The victory guarantees Kaiserslautern at least the third spot in the table as of the evening, while Osnabrück drops to position 13.
