According to the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung”, the Alternative for Germany (AfD) is currently engaged in intensive planning aimed at establishing a single-party government in Saxony-Anhalt, staffing it with personnel sourced from various regional associations. The report indicates that politicians from five state associations have confirmed that the party has begun searching nationwide for suitable administrators and ministers.
Discussions concerning potential changes in Saxony-Anhalt are reportedly taking place both outside of federal party leadership meetings and within the AfD’s federal parliamentary group, often detailing exactly which individuals would take which functions.
Hannes Gnauck, an AfD board member, stated that he possesses name registers detailing the qualifications of the best AfD staff across Germany. Those candidates originate from the “Schwarz-Rot-Gold-Akademie” for which Gnauck is responsible for organizing training. Gnauck asserted to the “FAS” that the federal organization is fully prepared for a scenario requiring appropriate administrative staff for the ministries, citing the readiness of the national body. Furthermore, the central AfD office houses a specialized “Working Group for Government Participation” composed of lawyers who model governmental takeovers and identify potential legal obstacles the party might face immediately following a seizure of power.
The AfD’s objective is to gain control of an estimated 150 to 200 key positions-including roles within ministries, government agencies, and state-owned enterprises. Top AfD candidate Ulrich Siegmund has issued warnings regarding civil servants who attempt to resist the political direction of an AfD government. While Siegmund initially stated a willingness to cooperate with everyone regardless of political alignment, he added that if individuals attempt to actively block the party’s work, “administrative law measures” would certainly be employed.
Siegmund also reported that civil servants have already contacted the party with inquiries regarding their personal future following a potential shift in power. Additionally, a high-ranking party official confirmed to the “FAS” that specific efforts are underway to recruit lawyers, particularly from right-wing student fraternities.
Andreas Lichert, the AfD Chairman for Hessian state, expressed an expectation that activists from Schnellroda would staff the government because, as he stated, “they are simply good”. These individuals are referred to as the “Neurechte” (neo-rights) who attend right-wing political academies in Schnellroda, some of whom openly reject the standard democratic party system. However, Lichert dismissed concerns about such opponents entering the government, questioning if they would genuinely want to work in a specific field if they openly disdain political parties.
Siegmund himself noted that such staffing questions were already discussed at the “Remigration Conference” meeting in Potsdam in November 2023, which he and his faction’s operational director attended.
