The first round of the German Cup sees FC Bayern Munich drawn against VfL Osnabrück, who recently earned promotion to the second division (2. Bundesliga). The draw was conducted on Saturday at the German Football Museum in Dortmund.
In other notable matchups for the opening cup rounds, a traditional Southwest derby will take place between SV Waldhof Mannheim and 1. FC Kaiserslautern. VfL Osnabrück secured their spot after winning the third tier (3. Liga) last season and being promoted to the second division.
The majority of the cup ties are scheduled from August 21st onward until August 24th. However, both the clash between Osnabrück and Bayern, as well as Borussia Dortmund’s game against HEBC in Hamburg, will be postponed until September 1st and 2nd because both teams must participate in the Super Cup first.
