Bayern Munich Advances to DFB Cup Final After Late Goal Against Leverkusen

FC Bayern München secured their spot in the final of the DFB Cup by defeating Bayer Leverkusen 2-0 in the semi-finals. The winning goals came courtesy of Harry Kane and Luis Diaz.

From the outset, the Munich side controlled the game, applying significant pressure on the hosts despite possessing much of the ball. Leverkusen struggled to find any attacking rhythm, and Bayern manufactured several chances. After a stretch of about twenty minutes, the breakthrough arrived: Harry Kane netted the deserved opening goal in the 22nd minute from close range, slotting it under the bar.

Even after conceding, Leverkusen found no way to penetrate Bayern’s compact defense for a long time. While Bayern remained dangerous, they repeatedly missed opportunities to extend their lead, including chances from Jamal Musiala and Kane, which were either blocked or saved by the strong goalkeeper, Mark Flekken.

Following the break, Leverkusen adopted a visibly more proactive approach and generated their first genuine chances. In the 52nd minute, Nathan Tella failed to score with an accurate shot saved by Manuel Neuer, and Patrik Schick soon after missed grazing the post with a header. Nevertheless, Bayern continued to be in closer proximity to a second goal.

In the final phase of the match, Leverkusen escalated their effort, going all out. However, the Bayern defense held strong, and the away side initially squandered crucial chances on the counter-attack.

The definitive moment came right near the end: Luis Díaz sealed the victory in the fourth minute of stoppage time with a close-range effort, making the score 2-0. The win represented a deserved success for the record champion, allowing them to advance to the final after several years.
