In the opening matchday of the Champions League league phase, FC Bayern Munich secured a dominating 5-0 victory against FK Bodö/Glimt in Munich. Simultaneously, RB Leipzig suffered a 1-4 loss against Como 1907.
Bayern controlled the ball distribution from the start against the tightly organized Norwegian defense. However, they struggled to find the breakthrough before halftime; Joshua Kimmich narrowly hit the post in the 35th minute. Just before the break, Bodö’s goalkeeper, Nikita Haikin, twisted his ankle, forcing him to leave the game. Julian Lund was brought on to replace him, making his Champions League debut.
The first goal came shortly after the restart, two minutes into the second half. Jamal Musiala opened the scoring in the 47th minute, capitalizing on a deflected shot from Harry Kane. Kane doubled the lead in the 61st minute, scoring a header from a Michael Olise free-kick cross for the 2-0 lead. Alphonso Davies extended the advantage to 3-0 in the 77th minute with a left-footed shot from about 17 meters out, following a poorly cleared corner. The scoring continued when Olise, involved in a two-pass sequence with Lennart Karl, finished into the left corner, before adding a fifth goal for Bayern in the 92nd minute to seal the final score.
Meanwhile, Como’s match was their first ever in the Champions League. Played at Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia, the team managed to take the lead in the 15th minute, courtesy of Martin Baturina, who initiated the attack. The Croatian Anastasios Douvikas added the second goal for Como in the 38th minute.
The halftime break seemed to boost RB Leipzig’s intensity, but they conceded the third goal shortly after the restart; Assane Diao managed to put Como up 3-0 in the 54th minute. Four minutes later, Andrija Maksimovic, making his Champions League debut, reduced the deficit with a left-footed strike from outside the penalty area. Maximo Perrone scored the fourth goal for Como in the 90th minute.
