Bochum and Wolfsburg Draw 1-1 as Bundesliga Replays Continue

The start of the 9th round of the 2. Bundesliga saw VfL Bochum and VfL Wolfsburg end in a 1-1 draw. The visitors took the lead early in the 2nd minute, with Fabian Reese scoring. The goal came after Wolfsburg defender Sael Kumbedi fed his teammate Muhammed Damar on the right flank, who then crossed the ball inside the left penalty area. Reese capitalized on the excellent opportunity, shooting directly into the top-right corner.

The home team finally pulled one back in the 63rd minute, courtesy of Sean Klaiber. The equalizer resulted from a sequence that began when Bochum midfielder Mats Pannewig intercepted a pass from Reese. Berkan Taz advanced the ball through the center, setting up his teammate Gerrit Holtmann on the right. Holtmann directed the ball forward to Klaiber inside the opponent’s box, who powerfully shot into the near post. This draw keeps Wolfsburg tentatively in 3rd place, while Bochum climbs to 14th position.

In a parallel match, SV Darmstadt 98 and FC St. Pauli also finished scoreless, 0-0. St. Pauli controlled the action during the first half and created several good chances, including attempts by Youssoupha Niang and Connor Metcalfe, though they were either missed or saved by Darmstadt goalkeeper Marcel Schuhen. Darmstadt countered with quick transitions, but failed to generate any serious scoring threats.

Little changed in the second half. While St. Pauli remained the dominant side, Darmstadt attempted to find opportunities through rapid counter-attacks. The home side’s best chance came from a dangerous free kick delivered by Marco Richter into the penalty area, but the visitors’ defense cleared the ball effectively. As the game wound down, both teams pressed for the decisive goal, yet neither Darmstadt nor St. Pauli managed to break through the opposing defense, resulting in the final 0-0 scoreline.
