Sixteen people were killed in a severe bus accident that occurred on Wednesday in the southern Sinai Peninsula of Egypt. Egyptian authorities reported that the crash took place on the road connecting Dahab and Nuweiba. In addition to the fatalities, 28 others were injured and subsequently transported to nearby hospitals for medical attention.
The accident occurred in an area that is a popular tourist destination, especially known for diving in the Red Sea. At the time of the report, the cause of the accident remains unclear, and official investigations are currently underway.
