During a meeting of the managing group leaders of the Union and SPD factions in Münster, both parties committed to a more mutually understanding approach. Felix Schreiner, the Parliamentary Director for the Union faction, told Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland, that “everyone must understand that they must also be willing to concede.” He added that the spirit of the conference in Münster was promoting understanding through excellent collaboration.
Schreiner stressed that the coalition would only be successful if it presented its achievements together. He emphasized that while compromises are always necessary, “ultimately, the result and the joint image we project externally are what counts.”
Additionally, Schreiner urged swift action on reform initiatives. He stressed to all members of the two coalition factions that they must implement the agreed-upon reform agenda quickly. He concluded by stating that the public does not want arguments; they demand results from the governing parties.
