During a parliamentary debate concerning his ministry’s budget, Federal Minister of the Interior Alexander Dobrindt (CSU) advocated for an “active” security policy. He asserted on Thursday that Germany will become stronger against any threats facing the nation. Considering the current threat landscape and constantly rising danger, he strongly urged everyone to reconsider their past statements regarding the strengthening of the security architecture.
Dobrindt emphasized that the supervisory body could not be mistaken for ideological enemies, and stressed the necessity of preventing crimes rather than shielding criminals. He added that the foundational pillars of the security architecture are being rebuilt. In recent months, he stated that groundwork has already been laid for this effort, citing initiatives such as the joint defense center against hybrid threats, the joint drone defense center, the dedicated drone defense unit within the Federal Police, and the establishment of research institutions focused on modern drone security.
