On Wednesday afternoon, the heads of state and government from the so-called “E5 countries”-Germany, France, Great Britain, Italy, and Poland-met at the Chancellor’s Office in Berlin. Tusk, Macron, and Meloni visited the Chancellor’s Office in the afternoon. Although Great Britain’s Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, had announced his resignation just last Monday, he remains in office until a successor is elected. He was reportedly planning to travel to Berlin as well, but he was not present for the official reception by the Chancellor on the red carpet. The E5 nations, along with the NATO Secretary General, gathered to prepare for the defense alliance summit in Ankara. An evening joint press conference and a dinner are planned for later, during which various other international issues are expected to be discussed.
