Eintracht Frankfurt has signed goalkeeper Noah Atubolu. The club announced on Friday that the 24-year-old will join from Bundesliga rival SC Freiburg on a loan deal until the end of the season. Furthermore, Frankfurt secured a purchase option, which may convert into a mandatory transfer under specific conditions.
Born in Freiburg in 2002, Atubolu first entered the SC Freiburg youth academy at age 13. He debuted with the U23 team at 18, subsequently rising through the ranks to win the third division title in the 2022/23 season. At 21, he established himself as the starting goalkeeper for the Freiburg first team.
In his initial professional season, he managed a strong start, recording 15 clean sheets across the Bundesliga, Europa League, and DFB Cup. He later set a club record, achieving 609 minutes without conceding a goal, and achieved a Bundesliga best mark for saving five consecutive penalties.
The 1.90-meter keeper was instrumental in Freiburg’s qualification for the Europa League, and during the 2025/26 season, he played in all 15 matches leading up to the final, conceding only 13 goals. In total, he has accumulated 125 senior appearances for Freiburg and 81 in the second team. Internationally, he represented the U17, U19, and U20 squads in ten matches, and the U21 squad in 22 games; he was also part of the U21 team that became European vice-champion in summer 2025.
The Sporting Director, Markus Krösche, described Atubolu as a “strong, ambitious, and already very experienced” goalkeeper capable of providing important momentum to the squad. Atubolu expressed his enthusiasm for the move, stating that he is familiar with the city, the club, and the stadium, and is excited about the new challenge.
