The heads of state and government of Germany, France, and the United Kingdom, often referred to as the E3, have confirmed their continued support for Ukraine amid the conflict with Russia. Following a meeting in London, a joint statement was issued by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU), French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The leaders highlighted the crucial role Europe plays as a supporter of Ukraine and called for the “closest cooperation” between Ukraine, European nations, and the United States.
The attendees welcomed the recent successes of Ukraine on the battlefield while jointly condemning Russia’s widespread rocket and drone attacks targeting Ukrainian cities. They expressed condolences to the victims and discussed coordinating further aid for Ukraine at upcoming international gatherings.
During the discussions, the necessity of increasing the production of defensive systems and providing sustainable support to Ukrainian armed forces was reaffirmed. Furthermore, the importance of Ukrainian security for overall “Euro-Atlantic security” was stressed. The leaders called for an immediate ceasefire and emphasized that international borders must not be changed by force.
