Former high-ranking politicians from the BSW party have founded a new political entity called “Thüringen Gerecht” (Thuringia Just). The party was established on Sunday in Erfurt. Katja Wolf, who previously served as the state chairwoman and deputy prime minister of the BSW, was elected as its chairperson. Steffen Schütz and Steffi Eschrich were voted in as deputies.
According to the party, its primary focus areas are strengthening the economy, promoting social cohesion, advocating for affordable energy, and increasing citizen participation. Their goal is to give Thuringia a “strong voice” and guide the state into the future with “courage, respect, and confidence.”
The new party plans to rapidly increase its membership and organize a party congress. This formation follows the departure of 13 out of 15 BSW state parliament members-including Wolf and Schütz-who resigned after entering into a dispute with the federal board and party founder Sahra Wagenknecht.
