FC Augsburg announced on Wednesday that Manuel Baum has extended his contract as Head Coach. The agreement extends his tenure for two years, keeping him in the position through June 30, 2028.
Michael Ströll, FCA CEO, stated that the decision was based on Baum’s performance, noting that “Manuel has done a very good job as Head Coach across all levels in recent months, which is why we are very pleased that the path in this position continues together”.
Adding context, Sport Director Benni Weber highlighted that Baum, along with the coaching team, managed to execute a crucial turnaround during a difficult period in Autumn 2025. Furthermore, the club achieved one of its best-ever Bundesliga rankings, finishing in ninth place following a strong second half of the season. The club expressed strong confidence that this current setup provides an excellent foundation for a successful shared future.
The coaching staff remains robust. Alongside Head Coach Manuel Baum, Alexander Frankenberger, Frank Fröhling, and Felix Kling will continue their roles as Co-Coaches. Benedikt Brust will remain on staff as the Player and Video Analyst, while 43-year-old Michael Weirich completes the team as the dedicated Goalkeeper Coach.
