Federal Digital Minister Karsten Wildberger (CDU) has admitted that the federal government made errors following the failure to pass the planned €1000 bonus for employees in the Federal Council. Speaking during the ntv program “Blome & Pfeffer” Wildberger stated that achieving solutions is extremely difficult when operating under constant, enormous pressure, a pressure that was further amplified by high expectations. He observed that making decisions “very much under time pressure” inevitably leads to mistakes, but insisted this realization was an explanation rather than an excuse.
While admitting the government’s failings, Wildberger also stressed that criticism coming from both political stakeholders and the economy must be taken seriously. He stated that the administration’s internal communication processes must improve. Furthermore, he pointed out that open funding questions between the federal government and the states require considerably more communication. In relation to the setbacks involving the Federal Council, Wildberger concluded by advising that during situations of intense pressure, it is vital not to overreact-a point he applied to his own behavior as a member of the current government.
