Frozen Iranian Funds To Cover Ship Damage Amid Escalating US-Iran Confrontation

Former US President Donald Trump announced that frozen Iranian funds held in the United States would be utilized to cover damages sustained by ships, cargo, and related losses. Writing on his platform, Truth Social, Trump stated that losses to vessels or associated materials would now be paid for using these Iranian monies that the US is “holding and controlling.”

Meanwhile, according to the Pentagon, US armed forces conducted their thirteenth consecutive night of attacks against Iran. The Pentagon stated that the onslaught targeted “military objectives” and that the US Army intends to “hold Iran accountable” and mitigate “threats to commercial shipping originating from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard.”

In response, Iranian state media reported that the city of Ahvaz in the south had been struck. Furthermore, explosions were reported in the port city of Bandar Abbas and on Qeshm island near the Strait of Hormuz.

Despite a recent period of rapprochement in discussions between Washington and Tehran, the conflict between Iran and Israel is now de facto in full swing. While American forces are targeting locations inside Iran, Tehran’s troops are also continually striking US bases located in regional countries.
