Gaza Deadlock: UNICEF Warns Palestinian Children Killed Daily Despite Ceasefire Amid Civilian Bombings

According to UN figures shared by a UNICEF spokesperson in Geneva on Friday, 265 Palestinian children have been killed in Gaza since the announcement of a ceasefire in October 2025. Despite the declared truce, the toll means that, on average, one child has died every day.

UNICEF stated that these children were not killed in combat zones, but rather “in their homes, schools, and while playing.” The methods of death cited include being shot, bombed, or hit by drones. Furthermore, over 400 children have been injured, many severely. The suffering of the wounded is exacerbated by inadequate medical care, which is hindered by restrictions on medication.

The organization stressed that the persistent violence targeting children in Gaza is not due to a lack of external options, but rather a lack of political will. UNICEF demanded an end to the normalization of this violence, urging governments and institutions to fulfill their responsibility and protect the lives of Palestinian children.
