During his visit to Volodymyr Zelenskyy and at the start of the German-Ukrainian government consultations in Berlin, Deputy President of the Bundestag Omid Nouripour (The Green Party) called for increased German support for Ukraine. Speaking to “Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland” Nouripour warned that “Putin’s heinous war against Ukraine risks fading into the background”. He emphasized the necessity of resuming German-Ukrainian government consultations.
Nouripour further stated that “the peace order in Europe is inseparable from the future of Ukraine”. Therefore, he argued that the federal government should put forward concrete proposals detailing how allies can bolster Ukraine’s air defense capabilities, deepen data and technology exchange, and advance the development of drone systems in order to compel the Kremlin to negotiate peace.
Simultaneously, Nouripour insisted that Russia’s war finances-particularly considering revenue from its “shadow fleet”-need to be systematically drained. He concluded with a strong warning to the RND that if Putin wins this war, “the peace order of Europe is destroyed” urging that “Germany must do everything to ensure the survival of Europe’s freedom”.
