Punctuality in the German railway’s distance transport has fallen to a historic low. According to the “Bild-Zeitung”, the punctuality rate dropped below 50% in June. This means that more than half of all long-distance trains were either significantly delayed or failed to reach their destinations entirely. Earlier, in April, the railway managed to meet its internally set punctuality goal of 61.9 percent, with 64.4 percent of all distance trains running on time. However, this rate subsequently declined to only 61.1 percent in May.
