Service providers in Germany experienced a decline in revenue. According to data released by the Federal Statistical Office on Friday, the sector generated 1.4 percent less revenue in March this year, when adjusted for price changes, and 1.0 percent less in nominal terms compared to February.
While nominal revenue saw an increase of 1.6 percent when compared to the same month last year (March 2025), the real, or price-adjusted, revenue actually fell by 0.3 percent.
The sharpest real decline compared to the previous month was seen in freelance, scientific, and technical services, which registered a drop of 4.8 percent. This was followed by other economic services-which include areas like the rental of movable goods and employment agency services-which contracted by 2.6 percent. In the property and housing sector, the decrease compared to the previous month amounted to 0.8 percent.
In contrast to these declines, revenues in the transport and storage sector rose by 0.3 percent in March, and the information and communication sector saw an increase of 0.7 percent compared to February.
