Irene Mihalic, the Green Party’s Parliamentary Director, has called for steps to initiate a ban procedure during a debate regarding the recent hacker attack on the Alternative for Germany (AfD). Speaking to the “Rheinische Post”, the Member of the Bundestag stated that even the official communications issued by AfD politicians reflect their anti-constitutional stance. Mihalic added that it remains to be seen how much the AfD leaks will intensify this picture. She stressed that, regardless of the current circumstances, “we should finally reach an agreement that allows the Federal Constitutional Court to review a potential ban on the AfD.” She concluded with full confidence that the available evidence will be thoroughly and diligently examined in Karlsruhe.
