Authorities in Stade have identified and arrested the individual who sold the weapon used in the murder of six employees at a youth care facility on June 29. The Stade Police Inspection and the Public Prosecutor’s Office announced the development on Tuesday. The 49-year-old man, who is from Berlin, is alleged to have sold the firearm to the perpetrator several days before the tragic event.
Investigators traced the trail to Berlin. Early Monday morning, specialized tactical units and officers from the Stade Homicide Commission, supported by the Berlin Police, apprehended the suspect. He was arrested without resistance and subsequently transported to the police detention center in Stade, where he underwent identification procedures and initial questioning.
Following a request from the Stade Public Prosecutor’s Office, the man was presented to the presiding judge at the Stade District Court on Tuesday noon. The judge issued the requested pre-trial detention order. Subsequently, the 49-year-old was transferred to a correctional facility in Lower Saxony. The investigation is ongoing.
