Ikkimel and Drake Lead German Album Charts; Udo Lindenberg Music Dominates Top 10

The Berlin rapper Ikkimel has risen to the number one spot on the German album charts, according to GfK data released on Friday. Ikkimel’s album “Poppstar” has consequently reached the highest position.

In a separate development, compilations featuring the music of Udo Lindenberg-who recently turned 80-are strongly represented in the Top 10. Collections such as “Alles unter einem Hut – Eure Favoriten” (number two), “We Love Udo – Das Udo Lindenberg Tribute Album” (number four), and “Alles unter einem Hut” (number nine) are all featured.

Globally, Canadian rapper Drake has debuted at number one with his track “Iceman”. Furthermore, his albums “Habibti” (number 36) and “Maid Of Honour” (number 38) have made their debut in the Top 100. Drake has also entered the single charts with eight different tracks, including “Janice STFU” (number 25) and “National Treasures” (number 33).

On the singles front, Bulgariens’ pop star Dara has taken the top spot following a surprise victory at the Eurovision Song Contest. Her party anthem is the first song from an “ESC” winner to reach number one in 14 years, though this contrasts with the former top hit from last year, JJ’s “Wasted Love” which peaked at number 13 in Germany.

While Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU) had previously predicted that “Bangaranga” might become the summer anthem, Dara’s ESC win currently makes the claim true.

Other notable entries in the current Top 100 include Sarah Engels of Germany (“Fire” 27), Cosmó from Austria (“Tanzschein” 70), and Felicia from Sweden (“My System” 87).

Musical stars like Justin Bieber, featuring Nicki Minaj (“Beauty And A Beat” number two), and Pashanim, AK Ausserkontrolle & Selim61 (“Prada Sport” number three) have captured other major placements. Separately, the Rolling Stones are generating buzz for their upcoming album “Foreign Tongues” with the pre-release single “In the Stars” currently sitting at number 61.

The official German charts are calculated by GfK Entertainment on behalf of the Federal Music Industry Association and cover 90 percent of all music sales.
