The Israeli Ambassador to Germany, Ron Prosor, expressed shock and outrage following the near-disaster involving a passenger flight bound for Tel Aviv on Wednesday. Speaking to the newspaper group Funke-Mediengruppe, Prosor stated that what unfolded in the skies over the Middle East “was nothing short of an attempt to stage a version of September 11th in 2026.”
The diplomat was convinced that the aircraft was being deliberately misused as a weapon. He noted that the intended targets could include the established regional peace axis, which comprises both Israel and the United Arab Emirates. Prosor highlighted the importance of civilian air links between Israel and the Emirates as they support the “normalization in the region.” According to Prosor, the attackers’ clear goal was to “drag the region back into an era of terror and endless conflict.”
