Israeli Ambassador Ron Prosor has issued a stern warning to Berlin regarding a potential government coalition that includes Die Linke (The Left). Prosor explicitly stated that the freedom of expression must not devolve into a license for incitement. He emphasized that history teaches the necessity of drawing a clear red line against antisemitism, noting that attacks typically start with Jewish people before spreading to affect others.
The ambassador conveyed great concern over the ongoing coalition negotiations in the capital city, particularly a possible partnership with Die Linke. He stressed that Berlin serves as Germany’s window to the world, and allowing antisemitism to become tacitly acceptable in this key city would send a disastrous signal.
Currently, discussions concerning the formation of a government are taking place in the capital among Die Linke, the Social Democrats (SPD), and the Greens.
