The Federal Minister of Health, Nina Warken (CDU), is currently reviewing plans to raise the nursing care contribution for childless individuals by 0.1 percentage points, increasing it from 0.6% to 0.7%.
These measures are being considered as a response to an anticipated multi-billion euro shortfall within the nursing care insurance system. According to estimates from the Scientific Institute of Private Health Insurance (WIP), cited by various news outlets, this adjustment could provide the insurance fund with an estimated billion euros annually.
For an average individual without children, this increase would result in an additional burden of approximately €13 per month. However, for those earning at or above the contribution assessment limit, the monthly increase would be closer to €30.
Minister Warken intends to introduce the revised Nursing Care Regulations Act (PNOG) this year, and this potential contribution change could be incorporated into that legislation.
