Leverkusen Fires Hjulmand, Names Spanish Coach Martinez as New Head Coach

Bayer Leverkusen has reportedly made a decision concerning a change in its coaching staff. According to a report by “Kicker” on Thursday, drawing on internal information, the Spanish coach Carles Martinez is set to follow the current manager, Kasper Hjulmand.

Hjulmand has served as the head coach at Leverkusen since September 2025. However, the club finished the last season in sixth place, with the latter half of the campaign being particularly disappointing.

Martinez, the presumed successor, most recently worked with FC Toulouse in the French Ligue 1. Prior to that, he gained experience across various youth development roles in Spain.
