The upcoming Berlin state election is shaping up to be a genuine head-to-head contest, although surveys currently indicate that the Left Party remains slightly ahead. According to a political barometer published on Thursday evening, the party of top candidate Elif Eralp is sitting at 22 percent, a point lower than recorded a week ago. Just behind them is the CDU, which also lost a point, at 20 percent. In contrast, the AfD managed to gain a point compared to last week, rising to 18 percent, thus bringing the top three parties much closer together. Slightly trailing them are the Greens, who have 15 percent (down 1). The SPD, however, managed to gain two points in just a few days, although they only reached 12 percent. The BSW faces uncertainty regarding entry into the State Parliament, registering 4 percent in the ZDF poll, which is nevertheless one percentage point higher than the previous week.
