Hundreds of migrants from Morocco have recently crossed the border into Ceuta, a Spanish exclave in North Africa. Spanish media reports indicate that both the Guardia Civil and emergency services have been overwhelmed by the situation. Many of the migrants reached the Spanish coast on foot or by swimming, celebrating their arrival with cheers and embraces. Some carried children and looked for a reception center. The situation in Ceuta has intensified considerably, particularly since the local authorities requested national support days ago. Juan Jesús Vivas, the president of the region, urged the government to declare a national state of emergency and assume control. He also appealed to the population to remain calm, reminding them that Ceuta has successfully managed similar situations in the past with determination.
