Eugen Brysch, the board member of the Patient Protection Foundation, has expressed sharp criticism regarding the care reform plans proposed by Federal Minister of Health Nina Warken (CDU). Speaking to the “Rheinische Post” Brysch remarked that Minister Warken’s draft for the care reform constitutes a “severe blow” to family caregivers. Many individuals reduce their working hours or entirely give up their careers, suffering significant financial losses in the process. Instead of strengthening and acknowledging this essential commitment, the proposals now include cuts to pension entitlements. Brysch described this approach as sending a “fatal signal” to those who assume responsibility daily and substantially alleviate the burden on the care system. He concluded that the German care service sector is being penalized.
