Pope Leaves Hospital Following Lung Operation, Returns to Vatican to Lead Prayers

Pope Leo XIV is cleared from the Gemelli Hospital in Rome. The Holy See announced on Saturday that the Pope would return to the Vatican on the same day. He is scheduled to lead the Angelus prayer from the window of his papal residence on Sunday.

Doctors supervising the Pope confirmed that blood tests and a chest X-ray taken on Saturday morning verified that his condition allowed him to be discharged from the hospital. Before his return to the Vatican, the Pope celebrated a mass in a specially designated room at the Gemelli Hospital.

The Pope had been hospitalized following an operation on his right lung, a condition later reported to be lung cancer.
