The United States and Iran may be poised to extend their agreed-upon ceasefire for approximately two months. According to reports from US media on Thursday, the new arrangement would allow the Strait of Hormuz to reopen and initiate discussions concerning the Iranian nuclear program.

US Vice President JD Vance stated that while several language points remain under discussion during negotiations, progress has nonetheless been made. The planned agreement would commence an additional 60 days of talks regarding Tehran’s nuclear program. Vance indicated that issues related to the reserves and enrichment of highly enriched uranium are still unresolved.

Vance also confirmed that the truce remains in effect despite one of the recent attacks. However, he clarified that the United States reserves the right to carry out defensive strikes. The truce may still lead to minor skirmishes, the report added.
