The Independent Flight Attendant Organization (UFO) and Lufthansa plan to resume discussions next week regarding open collective bargaining issues. The union announced on Thursday that following moderation and further exploratory talks, Lufthansa has indicated its readiness to move away from the “confrontational mode” of recent months and discuss solutions for cabin crew “seriously.”
Joachim Vázquez Bürger, Chair of the UFO, stated that intense discussions have made it possible to establish a “minimum level of mutual trust.” He added that the organization views this effort as correct and pledges to steer the process with the necessary clarity, firmly aligned with the interests of the cabin crew.
Harry Jaeger, UFO’s head of tariff policy, reinforced this, noting that Lufthansa is prepared to engage in an open dialogue process. He cautioned that this is “not a guarantee of a socially partnership solution,” but he described it as an immensely important step following a period of significant hardening positions.
Several appointments are scheduled for the coming weeks. However, both parties agreed to maintain silence regarding the specific content and progression of the negotiations. Furthermore, the talks addressing solutions for employees affected by the shutdown of Lufthansa Cityline will also be picked up.
