Investigators are actively searching for a 48-year-old man from Gevelsberg who confessed to attacks on substations in Dormagen and Bergheim in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), as well as one in Jänschwalde in Brandenburg. This man published the confession to the newspaper “taz”, and the police have apparently verified the document’s authenticity. According to the handwritten confession, which includes the suspect’s full details, he is a radical climate activist aiming to combat fossil energy sources.
Meanwhile, on Friday, a SWAT team executed a raid at the Hambacher Forst. They stormed a truck believed to belong to the suspect, but the man was not present. NRW Interior Minister Herbert Reul (CDU) confirmed the operation. During a joint press conference with Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt (CDU), Dobrindt stated that further attacks must be expected in Germany. He also noted that businesses should be equipped with capabilities to fend off drones themselves.
