According to Stefan Marschall, director of Wahl-O-Mat research at Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf, the political comparison tool is set to reach a new record during this year’s State Election in Saxony-Anhalt. Marschall told the “Rheinische Post” that the tool has already been used over half a million times globally. This is a significant increase, as it recorded approximately 430,000 uses the last time it was implemented in Saxony-Anhalt, five years ago.
Marschall further suggested that the high rate of usage may point toward a high voter participation rate. He estimated that roughly 40 percent of eligible voters might use the Wahl-O-Mat during the election, predicting that this level of engagement would likely correlate with an increased voter turnout compared to previous elections. He attributed this potential turnout boost to the general perception that the current election is “very strongly symbolically charged.”
