During a spree at a school in Turkey on Wednesday, at least nine people died and thirteen were injured. Additionally, three individuals are reportedly in critical condition. The incident took place in the major city of Kahramanmaraş, located in the southern part of Anatolia. The Turkish Interior Minister, Mustafa Çiftçi, provided details about the event that afternoon. According to his report, a 14-year-old eighth-grade student entered two classrooms armed with weapons that he had brought from home and opened fire indiscriminately. Out of the nine fatalities, eight were reportedly students and one was a teacher. Turkish media outlets have varied reports regarding the gunman: some suggest he may also have died, while other reports claim he was apprehended and “handed over to the police”.
