Donald Trump stated on Tuesday via his personal platform that he intends to extend the ceasefire in Iran. He wrote that the truce would remain in place until the Iranian regime presents a proposal and the discussions are concluded in some way. The former US president added that, given the Iranian government’s apparent divisions-which he noted was not unexpected-the US was asked by Field Marshal Asim Munir and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to suspend its attack on Iran until its leaders and representatives could present a unified proposal. He also indicated that the US military remains instructed to continue the blockade and to stay ready and capable in every other aspect. Trump had initially announced a two-week ceasefire period starting on April 8th, a period that Pakistan reported would end on Wednesday at 1:50 AM Central European Time.
