President Donald Trump has announced a new peace agreement with Iran that is reportedly close to completion. Trump stated that he held discussions with numerous heads of state and government last Saturday regarding this matter. Specifically, on his platform Truth Social, he noted that he had “a very good conversation” with leaders from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, and Bahrain. Trump revealed that the focus of these discussions was the Islamic Republic of Iran and all aspects related to a declaration of peaceful intent. According to Trump, the agreement has been “essentially negotiated” and the only remaining hurdle is the finalization process between the United States, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the various other listed countries. Separately, he stated that he also had a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, which “went very well”. The final aspects and details of the agreement are currently being discussed and will be announced “soon”. Trump further promised that, in addition to many other components of the accord, the Strait of Hormuz would also be opened.
