Former U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he intends to appoint Lance Schroyer as the next head of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Posting the news on his “Truth Social” platform, Trump praised Schroyer, citing his over 29 years of experience in law enforcement in Oklahoma. He also took the opportunity to emphasize his own strong showing in the state, noting that he won all 77 counties in the 2016, 2020, and 2024 elections.
According to Trump, Schroyer is a genuine patriot with the necessary background to remove undocumented immigrants from the streets. The former president pledged that under Schroyer’s leadership, criminal illegal immigrants-including murderers, rapists, and drug smugglers-would be arrested and deported on a scale never before seen.
Trump specifically called on the Senate to confirm Schroyer immediately, insisting that there should be no delays in the process.
The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency is the largest police and customs department within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), headquartered in Washington. It was established in 2003 following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. ICE is tasked with investigating, identifying, and exposing various border violations as well as potential threats to public infrastructure and transportation.
However, the agency has recently come under fire due to numerous deaths occurring during its operations. Furthermore, the number of fatalities among individuals held in ICE custody has also been reported to be increasing recently.
