U.S. President Donald Trump has announced a “devastating economic operation” targeting Iran. Sharing the details via his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump stated that these measures would constitute an “economic war and isolation on an unprecedented scale,” referring to the initiative as an “economic D-Day.”
Trump did not halt at the declaration of war, warning that any country providing Iran with any form of support would face consequences. He emphasized that nations allowing their financial institutions, companies, airports, or state bodies to provide a “lifeline” to Iran would themselves encounter massive economic repercussions.
The President insisted that certain activities must be stopped immediately, including oil smuggling, swap lines, money transfers, currency exchange offices, ship registries, and the use of shell companies.
This fresh wave of threats comes as Trump has repeatedly targeted Tehran in recent months. Nevertheless, the conflict that began at the end of February remains ongoing, with no immediate end in sight.
