The Union and SPD plan to accelerate the implementation of several planned reforms during a closed-door session of the executive party group leaders, which begins in Münster on Thursday. Dirk Wiese, the SPD parliament official, told the “Rheinische Post” that the meeting will focus on defining the priorities for the coming weeks. Central to this agenda will be the reform of the nursing care insurance and the follow-up on decisions made prior to the summer break.
Wiese also indicated that discussions will heavily involve the security situation, specifically addressing the ongoing threat from Russia and the perceived unreliability of the United States. Beyond these specific policy issues, the two-day conference is also expected to be used to reinforce the cohesion among the coalition factions.
To attend the session as a guest, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre is expected.
