Following the AfD’s victory in the state election in Saxony-Anhalt, the Union (CDU/CSU) has warned against abandoning its current reform agenda. Catarina dos Santos-Wintz, the Union faction’s newly appointed chief parliamentary secretary, told the “Rheinische Post” that while the AfD rightly highlights many problems, it lacks convincing answers.
“We have the solutions,” she stated. “This is why we are now rapidly implementing our started reforms, so that our country can regain growth and public trust in the ability of politics and the state to act.”
Dos Santos-Wintz acknowledged that many citizens are visibly dissatisfied. She identified the causes of this unrest as the economic situation, long-ignored issues concerning irregular migration, and excessive bureaucracy-frustrations she fully understands.
She concluded that the current focus must be on revitalizing Germany, securing employment opportunities, and ensuring reliable pension provision.
