US-Iran Talks Expected to Continue Amid Waffenstillstand

The foreign policy expert from the CDU parliamentary group, Jürgen Hardt, anticipates further talks between the opposing sides following the extension of the ceasefire between the US and Iran by US President Donald Trump. Speaking to the “Rheinische Post” (Thursday edition), Hardt stated that he expects negotiations to continue in the near future, calling the extension of the truce a necessary prerequisite for this. He emphasized that “the weapons should remain silent as long as negotiations are ongoing”.

Furthermore, the CDU politician advised the leaders in Tehran to “not push their luck”. Hardt noted that Iran remains fragile, both politically and militarily. He concluded by suggesting that Iran, much like the US and Israel, has the potential to achieve significant positive negotiating outcomes that would be impossible to reach if fighting were to resume.
