VfB Stuttgart has reportedly extended the contract of national player Deniz Undav until 2029. The 29-year-old striker will thus remain a long-term part of the Stuttgart squad, the club announced on Monday.
Undav has become a pivotal figure and vice-captain for VfB over the last three seasons, having appeared in 117 official matches for the club and scored 57 goals. This season alone, he scored 25 goals and provided 14 assists in 46 professional games, contributing significantly to the VfB securing a second appearance in the Champions League since 2024.
His recent career trajectory saw him move permanently to Stuttgart in the summer of 2024 after a loan spell with Brighton & Hove Albion during the 2023/2024 season, where he netted 19 goals and helped secure a runner-up finish. His strong performances led to his first call-up to the German national team in March 2024, and he is expected to participate in the upcoming World Cup.
A major highlight of his tenure at the club was winning the DFB Cup last May. Furthermore, Undav has attracted international attention by scoring crucial goals in both the Champions League and Europa League. Alexander Wehrle, the CEO, and Fabian Wohlgemuth, Head of Sport, both praised Undav for his contribution to the club’s success, emphasizing his importance to VfB’s future planning.
