100 Days of Stable Progress

Following 100 days in office, the leading government coordinators from the CDU and SPD have expressed consistent satisfaction with the stability demonstrated by the current coalition government, despite the recent unsuccessful attempt to elect a Federal Constitutional Court judge.

Thorsten Frei, Head of the Federal Chancellery, stated in an interview that “We are both driven by the desire for this coalition to succeed for our country”. He highlighted the government’s efficiency, pointing to the successful passage of 118 initiatives – including 57 legislative proposals – through the cabinet within the first 100 days. Frei also noted the development of “a good and reliable working relationship” with Björn Böhning, the State Secretary coordinating governmental affairs for the SPD.

Böhning echoed this sentiment, stating that “All our prior agreements are very reliable and hold true”. He described a proactive approach to potential challenges, explaining that the team prioritizes anticipating upcoming problems. “If they never see the light of day publicly, then we’ve done our job well, which has been the case almost always so far”. This collaborative effort, both coordinators suggest, is a key factor in the coalition’s early successes.
