US stock markets saw significant gains on Friday. By the close in New York, the Dow reached 53,277 points, marking an increase of 1.0% compared to the previous trading day. Earlier in the day, the broader S&P 500 recorded a 0.4% rise, hitting approximately 7,674 points, while the tech market saw the Nasdaq 100 calculate at around 29,309 points, up 0.3%.
Following President Donald Trump’s recent decision to suspend 50% punitive tariffs on Canadian products for three days, a settlement in US-Canadian trade negotiations may be near. A Canadian negotiator confirmed on Friday that progress is still being made, noting that the US imported goods valued at $383 billion in 2025.
In the commodities market, the gold price recorded strong increases, reaching $4,617 for a fine ounce in the evening (+2.2%), which translates to 127.10 Euros per gram. Meanwhile, the price of North Sea Brent crude oil rose slightly. At 10 PM German time on Friday, a barrel cost $93.89-eleven cents, or 0.1% more than the previous day’s close.
Regarding currency, the European community currency remained largely stable on Friday evening. One Euro was priced at $1.1678, while correspondingly, the dollar traded at 0.8563 Euros.
