Stuttgart Falls 2-1

VfB Stuttgart narrowly lost 2-1 to Bayern Munich in the Franz-Beckenbauer Supercup, marking the beginning of the new season with a competitive match.

Bayern Munich established early pressure, consistently pushing Stuttgart back into a defensive posture and generating several scoring opportunities. The breakthrough came in the 18th minute when a fortunate deflection off a Stuttgart player set up Harry Kane, who powerfully struck the ball into the left corner, giving Bayern the lead.

The goal appeared to galvanize the Stuttgart side and they responded with increased attacking intent. Vagnoman created a chance in the 23rd minute, but his effort was denied by Manuel Neuer. A minute later, Woltemade found himself in a promising position but shot directly at the Bayern goalkeeper.

Bayern continued to threaten, with Gnabry delivering a dangerous cross in the 38th minute, but Olise’s header went just over the bar. The first half concluded with Bayern holding a narrow one-goal advantage.

The second half saw Stuttgart taking more initiative in attack, although clear-cut chances remained elusive. In the 58th minute, Karazor’s shot was blocked and on the counter-attack, Bredlow, deputizing in goal for Nübel, denied Kane’s attempt from a tight angle.

Leweling tested Neuer with a powerful strike in the 75th minute, but the veteran goalkeeper was equal to the task. Bayern then extended their lead two minutes later when Gnabry’s pinpoint cross found Luis Diaz, who headed home unchallenged.

Despite Stuttgart’s continued efforts, Bayern effectively controlled the game. However, a late surge saw Leweling head in a corner in the third minute of added time, creating a tense finish. Ultimately, Bayern held on to secure the first trophy of the season.
