Volker Wissing: New Role After Transport Ministry

Former German Transport Minister Volker Wissing has accepted a new position as chairman of an advisory board for the investment firm Christ Capital, according to reports in the German magazine “Der Spiegel”. He will advise entrepreneur Harald Christ on long-term corporate strategy and investment decisions.

Wissing and Christ have a long-standing relationship, both hailing from the state of Rhineland-Palatinate and having been active members of the Free Democratic Party (FDP) until the recent dissolution of the governing coalition. Both individuals resigned from the FDP following disagreements over the party’s role in the coalition’s collapse.

Christ Capital’s portfolio includes the consulting firm Joschka Fischer & Company, founded by former German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer.

The German federal government now requires approval for Wissing’s new role. The Chancellor’s office was informed of the appointment on Thursday and will evaluate the position to ensure compliance with post-employment regulations for former government officials.
