A fatal attack unfolded at a synagogue in Manchester on Thursday, resulting in multiple casualties. Police confirmed that, in addition to the suspected perpetrator, two other individuals were killed during the incident.
Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s death, believing he may have died as a result of police gunfire. However, a definitive determination is pending due to the presence of “suspicious items” on his person, requiring the deployment of an explosive ordnance disposal unit.
Three other individuals are currently in critical condition, receiving medical attention. Those who were present within the synagogue during the attack initially took shelter inside, but have since been safely evacuated by law enforcement.
Emergency services responded to multiple distress calls earlier Thursday morning, reporting a vehicle striking pedestrians and a subsequent knife attack. Police engaged the suspected assailant, resulting in the fatal shooting. The attack occurred on Yom Kippur, a significant and widely observed Jewish holiday known for attracting large numbers of worshippers.
